Brand new construction a co-operative project between Piko and Märklin

The prototype:

In order to compete against air travel the Metropolitan Company was formed  and ordered two trains for the Hamburg - Cologne route and no expense was spared with leather seats and wooden furnishing throughout.  Unfortunately the service was, perhaps, ahead of its time and failed to attract enough customers.  The unique coach sets were later picked up by the DB IC network.

The Model:

1 x Apmz 116.2 express train car, sequence number 2

1 x Apmkz 116.6 express train car, sequence number 3

1 x Apmz 116.4 express train car, sequence number 4

1 x Apmz 116.4 express train car, sequence number 5

1 x Apmkz 116.6 express train car, sequence number 6

1 x Apmbzf 116.8 express train cab control car, sequence number 7.

The train has current conducting couplings, full interior lighting as well as directional lights on the loco and Cab control coach.
