Lenz ABC Technology
Together with Lenz Silver and Gold decoders, the new ABC (Automatic Braking Control) technology allows simple automatic control of locos. With little effort, ABC accomplishes just what model railway enthusiasts crave: precise on-the- spot stopping in front of signals and passage in the opposite direction. Presently, ABC offers three braking modules:
- BM1 facilitates stopping in front of signals
- BM2 facilitates stopping and braking in front of signals
- BM3 facilitates assembly of automatic block sections.
ABC modules serve to influence track sections in front of signals. Direction dependent information on the signal status is fed to the locomotive decoder.
What else is ABC capable of?
While the locomotive is located in the asymmetrical voltage section,
- all functions can still be switched
- you can reverse away again from the signal
- programming in operational mode (PoM) is possible as is
- shunting and driving over sectioning points.
"On the right means on the right..."
...was a slogan on a german Autobahn sign at the end of the 1980s. It was meant to remind drivers to change back to the right lane after overtaking a lorry. The same is true when using the BM modules: "on the right means on the right".
It is always the right rail in the direction of travel where a rail-break is made when a driving or braking section is defined. Make breaks in the right rail at the beginning and at the end of the braking section. Alternatively, you can use an insulating track connector if there is a track joint at the point in question.
To use the ABC technology with BM1, BM2 and BM3 block section modules, you will need locomotive decoders of the Gold / Silver series or other decoders that support the ABC technology as well as suitable amplifiers that produce a clean DCC signal (LZV100, LV101, LV102)
