KM-1 Br85 Spur O
In 1931, the DRG ordered 10 Class 85 locomotives from Henschel for the Höllental. With a weight of 180t and able to generate 1,500 Psi of power the Br85 was able to cope with the severe inclines on the Höllental at 23 km/h!
The engine and chassis were from the Br44, three cylinder 2-10-0, the boiler were from the Br62 4-6-4T. The Br85 were intended for heavy passenger and freight train service, they also hauled Touropa and Scharnow passenger trains. In February 1933, the 10 locomotives were delivered. After special training of the staff, the Br85s were immediately used. From then on, the entire driving operation for the line was switched to friction mode with the Br85. After 46 years of operation, the operation of cogwheel locomotives ended in October 1933. Even today, the 85 007 of these impressively powerful machines are preserved as a museum locomotive in the Bw Freiburg.
KM-1 are aiming to deliver in 2024/2025
