Completely new model - largely constructed from metal.

137 G8.1 locomotives were built for the Alsace Lorraine Railways, built to the same design as the Prussian G8.1. 78 of these locomotive remained in Alsace Loraine following WW2. These were joined by 138 reparation locomotives and registered to the SNCF Est Region.  Some went on to work in Algeria.
