Jouef  HJ2415 SNCF 140C Steam Locomotive EpIII  HO
340 of the 140C were constructed from 1913-1920 with 240 built in Britain during the First World War.

270 of the locomotives were operated by the ETAT (State Railway). 70 additional locomotives were utilised bt the French army for rail mounted heavy artillery (Artillerie Lourde sur Voie Ferrée, ALVF).  The locos were later sold to the Est and PLM companies.  After WW2 the class were migrated to the Est region, presumably to assist servicing and to make way for the 141Rs being built in the US. The 140Cs lasted to the end of steam in 1975 and 8 are preserved.
