POWER-1 is an energy storage module for use with GOLD Series decoders. This storage unit supplies the decoder and the locomotive with power when there is an interruption of electrical connection to the track (e.g. dirty tracks).

The USP circuit of the GOLD decoders allows the decoder to receive the DCC signal without a direct electrical connection to the track. During the period where track electrical power is not present the USP circuit switches to the backup power provided from the POWER-1 storage module to ensure continued control of the motor. If digital information is no longer transmitted, the motor will be deactivated. This prevents the locomotive wheels from continuing to turn, for example: in the case of a derailment. POWER-1 is like an "electronic flywheel", but thanks to the USP technology the stored energy is used only when necessary.

Accessory decoders are the link between your NMRA DCC system and your functional devices (that is turnouts, signals, uncouplers, etc.) on your model train layout.
 
Accessory decoders receive commands sent from the command station via the power station and activate the drives of turnouts or other switching devices. For DIGITAL plus systems these switching commands are activated from input devices, such as, hand held controller LH100 or LH90 (or in connection with another, compatible digital system).

The most well known and commonly used form of feedback is information as to if a track on your model train layout is occupied or not. Even when you control your layout “only” by hand, you will surely want to know the status of tracks that can’t be seen. Hidden staging yards are referred to as “hidden” for a reason.

Feedback is absolutely necessary for fully or partially automated operation. How else will a computer program “see” if a particular track is free or not? This information is needed in order to know if a train may enter a particular track or not.


The feedback module LR101 has 8 inputs to connect switch contacts or occupancy detectors LB101 and 1 input to connect a voltage detector LB050.


To bridge unstable switch conditions (e.g. temporary interruptions of the power supply), each signal input can be assigned a programmable delay time for feedback on the occupancy status of a track. The status is reported to the command station LZV100 or LZV200 via the feedback bus. The status can be displayed with a manual control LH100 or LH101 or a PC (via the Digital plus interface).

In order to detect the status of tracks the LB101 functions as a current sensor, and is inserted between the LR101 and the monitored track section. The LB101 can monitor two track sections independently from each other.

General information about the LB101 Dual Occupancy Detector:

The LB101 contains two independent occupancy detectors, each of which can be used to detect that a train or piece of rolling stock occupies a section of track. It operates on the so called “current sensing principle”. The LB101 only detects occupancy when there is a "current consumer" within the monitored track section (detection section). The LB101 has been designed to detect a decoder equipped locomotive or a single car with lighting or resistor wheelsets.


When the LB101 detects that there is something it its detection zone, the LB101 closes an electronic switch. This switch can be used to trigger layout feedback devices such as the DIGITAL plus LR101 encoder,
or other low current electronic inputs such as those used to trigger some signal systems. The LB101 is compatible with all NMRA DCC systems.

Status detection via current sensors, such as the occupancy detector LB101, has one crucial disadvantage: if the operating voltage is interrupted, so is the power supply. In this case, occupancy detection fails: the signal output will report unoccupied tracks that are, in fact, occupied. Power failures may be caused when the voltage is switched off or short circuits occur which are a frequent phenomenon in model railway systems. The voltage detector LB050 was designed to prevent faulty feedback. It checks whether digital voltage is applied to the track; if not, the present status will be fed back until voltage is reapplied.

This newly developed module LK200 is safe due to fault current principle, polarity change takes place at 100mA residual current, indicated by LED. Switching is carried out electronically without  a relay giving high change speed and no mechanical wear. Wiring is very easy (like LK100), no additional control connections, sensor tracks or the like required. Maximum load capacity: 5A.

The LK200 is the real solution for reverse loops, triangles and turntables: easy wiring, high switching speed and as much safety as possible.  Make you reverse sections long enough to accommadate the longest train that will use them so that you do not bridge both ends of the insulated track at the same time.


The LK200 is not intended to switch polarity on the frogs (Vee) of Electrofrog diamond crossovers  (Peco SL-E193 SL-E194...)

This 4-digit display serves to depict the address of the locomotive located in a monitored track section. Installation is possible anywhere on the layout, for example inside a signal box.  The LRC120 can be used to monitor hidden sidings.  One useful feature is that it allows you to confirm that a locomotive decoder is correctly set up to broadcast the RailCom signal.  We have used the LRC120 with Lenz, Roco Z21 and with Uhlenbrock POWER4 generated RailCom.

Lessons learnt from 25 years of the LZV100 and with Prototypes of the new LZV200 have resulted in some new features

  • Update by USB memory stick - unit no longer has to be sent off for upgrading
  • Integrated computer interface
  • Adjustable Track voltage and maximum current

  • CVs can now be read during operation, not just on the programming track - (RailCom enabled decoders and LRC120 display are needed for this)

Updates: can be done easily with a USB memory stick.
Locomotive: 9,999 addresses for digital locomotives.
Locomotive and configuration: up to 29 functions are available per address.
For functions 1 to 28, you can set separately whether it is a switched or a momentary function.
This setting is saved to each loco address.
Driving stages: The driving stage modes 28 and 128 are supported. The drive step mode can be set separately for each address.
Double and Traction (MTR): Two or more locomotives can be combined and controlled together. In order to manage the MTR, the LZV200 has an internal database, in which each address is entered, whether and if so, in which MTR the relevant address is integrated. This database can be queried and modified by XpressNet handsets and devices.
RailCom: The built-in global RailCom detector will allow the RAILCOM data of all locomotives located in the supply area of the LZV200 to be received. From other supply areas (e.g. LV102), the RAILCOM data is forwarded to the LZV200 with the RailCom transmitter and can be processed there.
Programming during Operation (POM): You program the properties of a decoder while the locomotive is somewhere on the system. For example, drive Your locomotive in front of a heavy freight train and adjust the driving delay to the train!
The content of CVs can also be read out and displayed via the built-in global RailCom detector (if the addressed decoder is able to do so).
Programming on the program track: all 3 programming variants according to NMRA are available with the LZV200: Programming with specification of CV, register programming and page mode.
Magnetic Articles: The address range for magnetic articles (turnouts, signals) we have expanded to 1 to 2048. Point feedback is possible in the range from 1 to 256.
Auto mode: This mode ensures that after switching on your system, the locomotives are restored with the stored data. If this mode is switched on, the driving commands are saved for the above locomotive and sent after switching on. The information of functions F0 to F4 is also sent.
XpressNet: The XpressNet connection is used to establish communication with the input devices. The automatic forwarding of messages of reconfirmable components via XPRESSNET to connected devices means an extremely fast feedback the LZV200 supports XpressNet devices from version 3 onwards.
Output current: The output current of the built-in amplifier is limited to a maximum of 5a. Voltage and maximum current are adjustable.
Protective functions: Thermal overload protection and external voltage protection.
Computer connection: The LZV200 is prepared for computer connection

This is Lenz' new entry level XpressNet Handset. The LH01 will work  with LZV100 command station on Version 3.6. The design is minimalistic in order to give the greatest functionality for the least price.
The LH01 Handset has a 4 digit display and one large control knob that works like a games consol control or a system control in a prestige car - the rotary knob can also be pressed in four directions and pressed in the middle so that you can enter the menues.  In this way Lenz can offer a high specification for a low price:

  • For up to 9999 digital motor vehicles
  • Setting of 4-digit locomotive addresses on Read and Write Programming track
  • 28 speed steps
  • 29 functions for each locomotive
  • Functions can be continuous or momentary by button press
