The DB V90 was designed to replace the numerous Br94 steam locomotives in the heavy shunting role. Initially it was planned to reinforce the chassis of a V100 and add ballast to complete the requirement. In then end a new design was needed. The pre-production batch of 20 used the 1,100 Hp diesel from the V100.1. the main production used the 1,350Hp diesel from the V100.2
Over 400 were built between 1963 and 1974 - They were re-numbered as Br290.
The KM-1 models will be made from Brass and Stainless steel and feature a high quality motor with a bell shaped armature, Dynamic smoke generator and ball bearings on the axles and in the gear box.
