DA7S-005-001DA7S-005-001 LNER Y3 Sentinel DA7S-005-001 LNER Y3 Sentinel Steam Shunter  O Gauge In stock

L.N.E.R. livery No. 42 (Built by the Sentinel company in 1927 as  Central Engine - double geared variant)
All of the Big Four railway companies performed trials with the Sentinel Central engine light shunting loco.  The LNER purchased the most - the loco was ideal for lightly laid track and was economical to run - the geared steam motor was kinder to the track as it produced a smooth power delivery compared with the hammer blows of a conventional 2-cylinder locomotive.  The Sentinel was suited to shunting - it was not fast enough to haul wagons for long distances.  The original Sentinel CE locomotives were single speed,  the two speed variant allowed a locomotive to run faster - gears could only be selected when stationary - Low gear gave the loco a speed of 13.5mph, suitable for shunting.  High gear gave a potential speed of 36mph for short freight trains and light engine movements.

Model Specifications:
  • 1:43 scale
  • Diecast Chassis and running plate
  • Powerful 5 Pole Motor
  • Exquisitely detailed body with many added detailed parts
  • Removable cab roof so figures may be easily fitted
  • Sprung Buffers and Screw Couplings
  • Expertly applied livery
  • Firebox Flicker
