Lenz 40294-01 DB Br94 Dampflokomotive (ex Prussian T16.1). Number 94 1538 EpIII. O Gauge
94 1538 is preserved on the Rennsteig line - one of the steep lines that made these locomotives famous.
1,242 Locomotives were built to the Prussian T16.1 design, between 1913 and 1924. They were designed for heavy shunting and short distance trip working, however it was found that they had superb traction on step inclines. This allowed them to replace rack fitted locos and many Br94 locomotives were fitted with Riggenbach counter-pressure brakes (Riggenbach-Gegendruckbremse) to allow them to perform safely on such lines. The system pressurises the cylinders with compressed air, locking them to prevent the loco from rolling.
