23151 USB/LAN Interface

The 23151 USB/LAN Interface allows you to connect your Lenz Command station to a Computer or wireless router.  The software included with the interface allows you to drive locomotives from a PC or to re-programme them easily, with full explanations of the CVs on Lenz DCC Decoders.  

An overview of the 23151 LAN USB Interface:

Installing 23151 LAN Inteface on a PC with Windows XP - The Lenz software looks for COM Ports 1 to 10. If the USB has been allocated a higher number you will have to re allocate the COM port.

Installing 23151 LAN Inteface on a PC with Windows Vista - The Lenz software looks for Com Ports 1 to 10. If the USB has been allocated a higher number you will have to re-allocate the COM port.  This is done in device manager on a PC.


Apps for Smartphones
Using the WLAN connection on the 23151 you can connect a router with an ethernet cable (Separately available - This will allow you to connect in smart phones via Wi-fi.

This seems to have been developed for the French model railway club, Rail Train Crau Camargue - the app is available in English.
Notes on data load for large complex layouts
The LZV100 has an internal stack of up to 144 locos
This stack broadcasts the following information Address
Direction
Speed
Repeat instructions for locomotive functions - F0-F8 by default.
On large automated layout the data broadcast can increase to a point where instructions start to buffer
You can reduce the load by clearing the stack and allowing the PC programme to control only the locos in the automation - the easiest way to clear the stack is a full reset on LZV100 (or LZV200)
Select Loco 0 then press 4 Twenty times then power off for a minute. Once re-started the command station will have deleted all old instructions in the stack and can start again with new instructions.
Running on 128 speed steps has a much higher data load than using 28 Speed steps - you may want to consider using just 28 speed step commands.
Repeated Function commands
The Command station repeats the calls for functions - this keeps everything stable, especially for momentary pick up power loss or for isolated stop sections.
By default the system repeats F0-F8.  You may notice that if you lift a loco off and put it back on the track any functions above F8 do not come back on automatically ( Tail lights cab lights etc) This is because these instructions are not being repeated down the track but F0-F8 are.
You can increase or decrease the repeated functions using the handset.
LH100 - Set F option 3 - you can now scroll through the options for repeated functions - see page 23 of the LH100 manual.
